EVERYBODY

Everybody wants somebody
Everybody needs someone
Everybody loves somebody
Somebody like you

Everybody finds a reason
Everybody loses faith
Everybody hurts your feelings
No matter what you say

Solid-body, hollow-body
Make your body what you do
Everybody needs somebody
Somebody like you

Everybody wants somebody
Everybody needs someone
Everybody loves somebody
Somebody like you

Everybody finds a reason
Everybody loses faith
Everybody hurts your feelings
No matter what you say

HALFWAY HOME

I donít mind Texas stretching out wide
Summer nights, and sweet southern belles
Down on Sixth Street, I can barely remember
I lost my mind at the Congress Hotel

Just call me when you're Halfway Home
Just call me when you're Halfway Home

The day is long watching the world go by
Iím standing still and Iím slipping away
Galveston, ain't no radio rhyme
For lonely hearts with nothing to say [Refrain]

Nashville cats, and Beale Street barbeque
New Orleans is more than you need
Hollywood, I miss that dirty boulevard
The neon gods, so hard to believe [Refrain]

HEARTBROKEN MAN

The lights of the city are magic tonight
But I don't remember how it feels
Ain't no use in crying, cause she ain't coming back
I know I'm denying the truth
There ain't no help for a Heartbroken Man

Three in the morning is a long lonely time
When sleep's like a stranger at your door
Somewhere she's happy, I hope that's true
Better one person crying than two
There ain't no help for a Heartbroken Man

A Heartbroken Man
A Heartbroken Man
You don't understand
There ain't no help for a Heartbroken Man

Sometimes it's better and sometimes it's worse
But most times it's like I just don't care
Cause a man doesn't feel it,
He just holds up his head
And acts like he's fine but deep inside
There ain't no help for a Heartbroken Man

IN THE BACK OF MY MIND

Anything can make it happen
Heaven in a houndstooth skirt
Coming like the main attraction
Flaming like a cool dessert

In the Back of My Mind
In the Back of My Mind there's a girl like you
In the Back of My Mind
In the Back of My Mind there's a heart so true

Paris on a frequent flyer
London double-decker bus
Smoking like a distant fire
Burning up the two of us [refrain]

Working on a four-leaf clover
A palace down in Buckingham
All you want to do is hold her
And make her daddy understand [refrain]

RINGS A BELL

No, I don't recall
The way we laughed, the way we changed
And please have you the time
Forgive my mind, cause I'm not the same
Watching glowing black and white inside my room
Looks like it's snowing in the afternoon
But it's getting hard to tell
No, I don't recall
Your quiet face and lonely name
But it Rings a Bell

Now she wants it back
And so she gave, she takes away
And why apologize
When we both knew but didn't say
We could wait around forever while the years go by
Still fashioning our separate lives
And wanting someone else
No, I don't recall
Your gentle kiss, the eyes that laugh
But it Rings a Bell

Years, where have they gone
Did they treat you well,
Youíre still the same
So cry and wave goodbye
You stay inside, I'm gone away
What's the use of playing back the reel-to-reel
When I'm riding on the Ferris wheel
But you chose the carousel
No, I don't recall
Your nervous smile when I let you go
But it Rings a Bell

FAITHFUL

Someone told me long ago
Don't break the chain and so I know
To be Faithful
Hope and Love and Charity
You know what that means to me
Are you Faithful
When it's closing time
Leave the world behind
Cause you know that I'm
Coming home

I learn my lessons one by one
I'm not here to spoil your fun
Just be Faithful
I wonít keep you in a cage
But I have starts of violent rage
When itís painful
And Iíll be strong
Every night youíre gone
When thereís nothing wrong
Now is there?

And Iíll be strong
Every night youíre gone
Leave the world behind
Cause you know that I'm
Coming home

BOREDOM AND PEACE
(English Translation of ďTaikutsu to HeiwaĒ)

Another boredom and
Peace of the noon.
Wasting it all away, yawning.
The pet shop on the roof,
The shout of the kids.
Old people waiting on the bench.
Alone, to the department store,
I go for a walk.
ĎCause I had nowhere else to go

I bought a shirt after a long time,
And the saleswoman
Was a beauty.
Such a trifling happiness,
I have to go on living gathering them up, and collecting.
Whether I should call it boredom
Or Peace,
I guess itís up to me.

Like a hamster
Moving around in a cage.
My peaceful days.
If I should get used to the smallness
I know I will
Never get out of here

TROUBLED TIMES

Looks like rain, brother and a good one
And I don't see no silver lining
Lay down your obligations, lay down your arms
And fill your cup with holy water goodness
Troubles you can't face today
You're gonna find a way tomorrow

When it's cold, brother put your hat on
Though the wind might blow your hat away
Close all your windows, and rest here for awhile
By the fire, it's warm up by the fire
Troubles you can't face today
You're gonna find a way tomorrow

Give me strength, Lord, please give me power
When the flood comes crashing through my home
Close all the institutions, set people free
And hallelujah, brother, hallelujah
Troubles you can't face today
You're gonna find a way tomorrow
